If a provider's encounter notes may need to be co-signed by another user - for example, a supervising physician - their user profile can be set to allow them the option to request co-signature when signing a note.
This designation should be made BEFORE creating a workplace schedule for the provider.
NOTE: This set up can be done at either the Super Admin level or the Administration level, depending on whether the provider is associated with multiple clinics within the organization. In this example we will work in the Super Admin module.
Super Admin > Users > select provider
- In the Edit User window, scroll to the section labeled Medical Specialties and Taxonomies.
- Select the Clinic, Specialty Type, and Medical Specialty, Residency status, and taxonomy information as needed. Select the Needs to be Cosigned checkbox.
NOTE: Checking this box DOES NOT mean that all notes by this provider must be cosigned. This selection enables the provider to make a choice on a case-by-case basis to request that another provider cosign the notes as part of the finalization process for an encounter. - Click on Add Specialty. This will create the specialty line beneath.
- Save. This provider will now be presented with the OPTION to choose a provider to cosign his/her notes during the encounter finalization process.
See the article "Request Cosigning of Encounter Notes" to see the provider's option during the finalization process.
