There will be occasions when providers need to alter their existing work schedules to accommodate vacations, business trips, holidays etc. Options to create Scheduling Exceptions fall into three main categories, Clinic, Workplace and Resource.
NOTE: These exceptions are applied at the clinic level (not organization), so each clinic within the organization will need to be amended separately.
To access the Scheduling Exceptions window, select Administration> Side Menu> Scheduling> Exceptions
This will open the Schedule Exceptions page, where you can create new exceptions or edit existing ones. From here you can choose to create Clinic Exceptions, Workplace Exceptions, or Resource Exceptions.
A Clinic exception is designed for exceptions that affect All or Most Workplaces within a clinic such as a holiday not included in the original workplace schedule. If there are 25 workplaces within a clinic, and the exception will apply to all but 2 Workplaces, the Exclude Workplace field allows you to quickly find and exclude those 2 Workplaces.
A Workplace exception is designed for Scheduling Exceptions that affect only 1 or a Few Workplaces within a clinic, such as vacations, sick leave, conferences, etc. If there are 25 workplaces within a clinic, and the exception will apply to only 2, the Add Workplace field, allows you to quickly select those 2 workplaces.
A Resource exception is applied to any Resource calendars that may be associated with your clinic. This might include any shared machines or specific-use rooms that may need to be scheduled by providers.
Within each of the 3 main categories above, you can create Scheduling Exceptions that apply to a portion of one day, a full day, a full day or portions of a day that repeat Daily, Weekly or Monthly within Date From and Date To ranges, and Time From and Time To ranges.
Each of these is addressed in the other lessons.
