The Vital Sign tab of the Document Skeleton is used to add vital sign ranges that will associate an historical patient vital sign to the encounter documentation when it falls within the set range.
(Note: the Current Vital Signs option in this section is a legacy setting and no longer used, as all current vital signs are now displayed in the encounter documentation automatically.)
Adding a New Historical Vital Sign Range
Select 'Historical Vital Signs' in the filter area. Then click 'New.' This will open the 'Add Vital Sign' popup.
Start by selecting the type of vital sign that needs to be tracked and the desired unit of measurement. Next, a minimum and maximum value can be entered to define the range it should look for. Finally, it is possible to add a Time parameter which defines how far back in the patients record it will look.
Click 'Save' when complete and the vital sign range will be added to the Historical list.
When this Document Skeleton is used by the Provider, any historical vital sign that meets the specifications set here will now be brought to the forefront of the encounter documentation.
Removing a Vital Sign Range
To remove a Vital Sign from the list, first select the vital sign from the list, then click the 'Remove' button.
