The Vital Signs tab is the first page you’ll be presented with when you open the patient’s chart for your encounter.
If your clinic has an integrated vital signs device, the device may be preselected. Click “Retrieve Vital Signs” to populate today’s readings.
Hovering over the Information icon displays a Normal Vital Sign Ranges chart.
Manually enter vital signs by clicking in each field and entering the values.
Individual data fields can be changed by simply clicking in the field and replacing the values. The “Clear Current Values” button allows you to clear all the data fields quickly BEFORE adding them to the chart.
Once you have entered all the vital signs, click the Add button.
If a critical vital sign is far out of range, it may prompt a warning. To save the current readings with the alert information, click the Add button again.
If the blood pressure is re-entered at a more normal range, it allows you to save the readings without the warnings by clicking Add.
In the graph, hovering over a vital sign shows you the date it was recorded and the exact value.
You can also hide specific vital signs from the graph by clicking on them in the area above the graph. This provides a handy way to focus on certain ones or to compare two specific sets of vital signs.
The grid view shows the patient’s historic ranges. Out of range values are highlighted in red. You can change the order of the grid by clicking on the various headings. If you wish to remove a record from the grid, select it and click Remove.
To recover the removed item, use the grid filter and check Show Invalid Items. Clicking on the item will allow you to mark it as Valid.
Once you’ve completed the Vital Signs entries, you can continue to the next tab in the chart or click the Ready for Provider button to move the patient to the Provider’s appointment grid.
