Super Admin > Dictionaries > Common Orders
From the Super Admin module go to the Right Side Menu (RSM) and select Dictionaries. Scroll to the Medications Dictionaries near the bottom of the page. Select ‘Common Orders.’
Creating Common Orders allows you to relate a specific medication to a form, route, and strength, enabling a Provider to quickly access the Order information during a patient encounter. Creating lists of Common Orders can greatly increase the efficiency of the medical team and accuracy of Orders.
Creating a New Common Order
From the Common Order dictionary click the ‘New’ button and the New Common Order window will open.
Start by searching for a medication using the Medication search field. Medications are returned by Category marked by a small arrow. These Categories can be collapsed and expanded. Select the medication you are looking for under its listed category.
You are now able to select the proper route, form, and strength to be associated with this order. If desired, additional details about this order can be filled. Fields such as Dose, Duration, Refill, and Directions can all be predefined. Note: the Provider can edit the details of this order as needed during the patient encounter.
Finally, type in a name for this Common Order. When naming it is important to be as descriptive as possible about the contents of the Common Order (see ex. below). This will help the Provider or medical team quickly find the order needed.
Name format examples:
Nameofmedication - route / form / strength / additionaldetails
Acetaminophen - oral / liq / 500mg/15ml / qty30
predniSONE - solid / tab / 1mg
When the form is completed, and the order is named, click ‘Save.’ The Common Order is now part of the dictionary and the Provider will be able to search for and add the order to their Favorites list.
