Announcements Overview
- With this improvement, a Super Admin user is able to create announcements that are visible to all staff users
- The Announcements Icon is located in the top right corner of the screen with the existing fixed BDH icons when logged in as a staff user
- The number shows the total number of unread announcements
- Announcements will be marked as "read" when the icon is clicked and Announcements view is opened
- Even though the number will disappear, the user can still access all active announcements by clicking on the Announcements Icon
- There are 3 different types of Announcements: Critical (Red), Warning (Orange), and Information (Blue)
- The order of urgency is as follows: Critical -> Warning -> Information
- For example:
- if there are 2 information announcements and 1 warning announcement, then the counter will show the total number of announcements (3) in Orange
- if there are 2 information announcements, 1 warning announcement , and 1 critical announcement, then the counter will show the total number of announcements (4) in Red.

Create a New Announcement
- Super Admin Module -> Right Side Menu -> Announcements tab
- Click the 'New' button located at the top right corner of the Announcements grid
- The 'Create Announcement' Modal
- Title: This will show in large, bolded text at the top of the announcement
- Note, the Title will always be displayed with the announcement, so a heading in the description text box may not always be necessary
- Type: Choose between Critical (Red), Warning (Orange), and Information (Blue) types. As described above, the order of urgency is as follows: Critical -> Warning -> Information
- Start and End Dates: Choose the time frame of when/how long you would like for the announcement to be visible to the users
- Markdown (Help) link: By clicking the (Help) link above the description text box, you will be brought to a webpage for a Markdown cheat sheet which provides a quick overview of all the different formatting elements which can be added to the Description Text Box such as Heading, Fonts edits, Links to other webpages, Images, and more.
- Common Formatting Examples:

- To highlight certain text: <mark>text to be highlighted goes here</mark>

- Title: This will show in large, bolded text at the top of the announcement
The Announcements Grid
- The Announcements Grid will display all active and upcoming announcements with the most recent start date at the top and the oldest start date towards the bottom
- All Fields within an existing announcement can be edited by simply clicking on the desired announcement to open the 'Edit Announcement' modal
- When an announcement expires it will be moved to the Past Announcements View
- To find Past or Expired announcements, select the 'Show Past Announcements' checkbox
- Past Announcements will be displayed in the grid with red text
- Deleting an announcement will mark it as 'Invalid'
- This differs from altering the 'End Date' of an announcement to keep it valid but expire it
- To find 'Invalid' announcements, select the 'Show Invalid Items' checkbox
- Invalid announcements will be displayed in the grid with red text and a red background
